Ronnie Lee Bryant was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a man of strength, dedication, and quiet determination whose life was rooted in service to his family, his faith, his community, and his country. Ronnie took great pride in providing for his family, leading with love, and living each day with purpose, integrity, and humility.
Ronnie Lee Bryant was born on October 9, 1960, to the proud parents T.J. Neals and Beulah Austin. He spent his childhood and formative years in Chicago, Illinois, where he attended school and built lifelong values of discipline, responsibility, and perseverance. Later, he relocated to California and continued his education in San Francisco, laying the foundation for the life, career, and family he would go on to build.
In August of 1979, Ronnie answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably until June of 1982 as a Tank Driver in combat operations, where he was responsible for selecting tactical routes and working closely with his navigation crew. After completing his military service, Ronnie settled in California and dedicated himself to building a stable and meaningful life for his family. He worked faithfully at Nordstrom for over 30 years, where his strong work ethic, professionalism, and genuine care for people earned him respect and advancement into management. Following his time at Nordstrom, Ronnie partnered with his beloved wife, Detra, in operating a daycare business. In this role, he found joy in nurturing young minds-teaching music classes, building a playground for the children, and creating a safe and joyful space for learning and play. He carried out this work with patience, love, and dedication until his final days.
Ronnie was a devoted and loving husband to Detra Bryant, cherishing their life together and standing as a pillar of strength for his family. He was a proud and hands-on father and grandfather who valued loyalty, hard work, responsibility, and family unity above all else. His presence was steady, his guidance sincere, and his love unconditional.
A man of deep faith, Ronnie was a faithful and committed member of St. Jude Christian Tabernacle for more than 30 years, serving under the leadership of Pastor Isaac E. Cotton. He ound great joy in worship and fellowship, faithfully singing in the church choir and generously offering his time and talents. Ronnie took special pride in decorating the church for every holiday, ensuring that God’s house was always welcoming, beautiful, and filled with warmth and celebration.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beatrice Parker; his mother, Beulah Austin; his father, T.J. Neals; his brother, Nathan Bryant; and his son-in-law, Stanley Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted, loving, and faithful wife, Detra Bryant; his children Antoine Bryant, Lashundra Lewis (Stanley), Ronnie Bryant Jr. (Kionna), Tatyana Rhodes (Isaac), and Keith Adams (Stephanie); his siblings Daisy Austin (Atlanta), Hershley Bryant (Sacramento), Ruthstine Lee (Kenny) of Chicago, Clenzell Bryant (Denise) of Olivehurst, Adeel Bryant (Debra Ann) of Sacramento, Theresa Bryant of San Francisco, Tom Bryant of Sacramento, Maria Dodson (Anthony) of Sacramento, and Cynthia Lewis of Texas; his loving mother-in-law, Debra Ann Morrow and his father-in-law Gary Alford. 20 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and lifelong friends.
Ronnie Lee Bryant will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. His legacy of faith, service, love, and dedication will live on through the many lives he touched.
